What is Shungite?

Shungite is a rare black stone made of more than 98% carbon found in the Republic of Karelia in Russia. Shungite is unique in that it is the only known material to contain fullerenes (sometimes referred to as buckyballs), a microscopic, hollow pure carbon molecule. 

The discovery of fullerenes won scientists the Nobel Prize in 1996 and was considered a real breakthrough in nanotechnology. Fullerenes are believed to be an extremely powerful anti-oxidant and are being thoroughly studied for their benefits to health. 

Shungite is thought to be at least 2 billion years old, but its origin remains a mystery. There are several beliefs on where shungite came from. The two most popular theories being either an ancient sea or ocean or an ancient meteorite, which might help explain why shungite is almost entirely concentrated in just one area on Earth as well as its high carbon content.

What Are the Different Types of Shungite?

Shungite is typically classifed as follows: 

• Elite Shungite: Type 1 Silver/Noble contains up to 98% carbon
• Petrovsky Shungite: Type 2 contains 50 - 70% carbon
• Black Shungite: Type 3 Regular contains 30 - 50% carbon

Elite Shungite is the purest and rarest form of shungite and accounts for only 1% of all shungite found. It also contains the highest concentration of fullerenes which is why we have decide to only include Elite Shungite as part of our range. 

What are the Benefits of Using Shungite? 

Shungite has been used for centuries in Russia and Russian scientists have been studying shungite's properties extensively for decades. The full potential and healing benefits of shungite however is relatively new to the rest of the world and research is ongoing to discover its true potential and applications. 

Studies to date have shown that shungite is both a natural anti-oxidant and natural anti-inflammatory as well as having anti-microbial properties to kill viruses, bacteria and pathogens. It is thought that the fullerenes, which are carbon nanostructures work by damaging the cell walls of bacteria and viruses. 

Shungite is also recognised for its water purification properties and shungite water has long been recommended by naturopaths and natural healers as a treatment for a variety of illnesses including cold and flu, allergies, sore throat, kidney and liver problems, fatigue and much, much more. 

How Does Shungite Protect Against EMF? 

Research into the EMF protection properties of shungite are still ongoing but it is thought that the fullerenes in shungite have the ability to attenuate electromagnetic frequencies, transforming or neutralising the man-made EMF.

A 2003 study shows that 'shielding with shungite decreased the severity of damage produced by high-frequency electromagnetic radiation' 

How To Use the Shungite Keyring

Simply attach to your keyring. As shungite has such a high carbon content it may leave black marks on your skin or clothes. You can remove this black residue by washing your shungite stone carefully under warm running water. Elite shungite is very fragile so we recommend treating your shungite keyring with care. You can also attach your shungite keyring to a handbag, school bag or a belt loop or place it in your pocket or bag. 

Caring for Your Shungite Keyring

It is recommended that you regularly clean your shungite stone by washing it under warm running water for a few minutes and then leaving to dry in direct sunlight for at least six hours.

Dimensions

Please note that every piece of raw, elite shungite is unique and therefore each piece will be a different size. However, the approximate size of the keyring is 20mm H x 20 - 30mm W x 10mm D. The length of the keychain attachment is 50mm.

Colour

The Elite Shungite stone is predominantly black but with a shiny silvery surface and metallic lustre. The keychain in a metallic silver.

Return and Refund policy for the Elite Shungite Keyring

We sincerely hope you will be happy with your Elite Shungite Keyring from Earthing Oz. If for any reason the product does not meet your expectations, we will happily offer you an exchange or a refund on the product purchase price if you return the item to us within 30 days of receipt. Please note the following terms and conditions: 

• The Elite Shungite Keyring must be returned to us undamaged, unaltered, in its original condition and in its original packaging
• Shipping costs to return the item to Earthing Oz and, in the case of an exchange, to receive a replacement product are entirely the responsibility of the purchaser unless the item has been deemed as faulty (see below)
• We will only refund the price of the product and we do not refund the original shipping cost
• Once the item has been received and inspected by Earthing Oz, we will issue a refund back to your original mode of payment or arrange for a replacement item to be sent

If you wish to return the item to us please email us at admin@earthingoz.com.au stating the reason for your return and quoting the tax invoice number which will have been sent to you by email when you placed your order.

Faulty Items

Any item that is deemed faulty upon opening must be reported to Earthing Oz within 7 days of receipt. Please email us at admin@earthingoz.com.au stating your tax invoice number and, where possible, including a photo and description of the fault.

We ask that you initially cover the cost of return postage to us and once we have inspected the item we will reimburse you. For all faulty goods we either offer you a full refund on the product price or we cover the cost of sending a replacement product to you.
